Max Havelaar (B1)

Multatuli

Read Max Havelaar by Multatuli in easy Dutch: a free CEFR B1 graded reader to download as an EPUB. A pompous Amsterdam coffee broker tells, against his will, the story of an idealistic official who takes on colonial abuse in Java, in the most famous novel in Dutch. All twenty chapters are here in short, clear sentences and modern spelling, with Droogstoppel's comic voice, the letters and Multatuli's final accusation kept and a glossary after each chapter; the story of Saïdjah and Adinda and a few remarks about children are reduced. Makkelijk lezen in het Nederlands (NT2), niveau B1: Max Havelaar in eenvoudige taal, gratis als EPUB.
