Candide (B2)

Voltaire

Read Candide by Voltaire in easier French: a free CEFR B2 graded reader to download as an EPUB. Thrown out of a Westphalian castle, Candide crosses a world of war, earthquakes and the Inquisition, still repeating his tutor's claim that all is for the best. Voltaire's satire stays close to the original, in clear modern French with a glossary after each chapter; a few passages about characters under 18 are reduced. Lectures faciles pour apprendre le français, niveau B2 : Candide en français simplifié, gratuit en EPUB.
