O Mandarim (B2)

The Mandarin in easy Portuguese

Eça de Queirós

Read The Mandarin (O Mandarim) by Eça de Queirós in easier Portuguese: a free CEFR B2 graded reader to download as an EPUB. A poor Lisbon clerk rings a little bell, a faraway Chinese mandarin dies, and all his millions are suddenly the clerk's, until the dead man's ghost sends him to China to make amends. Eça's irony and style survive with only the hardest syntax and vocabulary eased, in modern European Portuguese with a glossary after each chapter; one short phrase about young pages is left out. Leitura fácil para quem aprende português (PLE), nível B2: O Mandarim em português simplificado, grátis em EPUB.
